UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Swabian Alb


Since May 2009, the Swabian Alb is also recognized UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, the only one in Baden-Württemberg. This puts the Swabian Alb in the list of the most important landscapes in the world. The Rocky Mountains in the US, the Amazon in Brazil, Niagara Falls in Canada, the Hawaiian Islands and many more

Former military training area

In the heart of the Swabian Alb biosphere area, 15 km from Ödenwaldstetten, is the former military training area in Münsingen. Tanks and soldiers have disappeared since the fall of the Iron Curtain and the structural reform of the armed forces in 2005 and the scars of the maneuver movements healed.
